Which Lip Product is Right for You for Your Wedding Day Makeup?
While lipstick isn’t the only element to your bridal makeup, it can have a big impact on the entire look. Choosing what works for you isn’t always as easy as it may seem, as the color is only one part of the equation! There are also many different types, textures and finishes of lip product available. If you want to find out which lip product is best for you, here’s what you should know about each of them.
Lip gloss
One of the best choices for a more natural and shiny finish, most people are familiar with a lip gloss, and they are known for providing more natural colours with a glossy finish. They’re great for some extra shine but remember that they may not be best if you’re outside – windy conditions may lead to your hair getting stuck to the product if it’s too tacky. My favorite lip glosses contain oil in them which gives you the shine without the stick. A couple of my favorites are Kosa‘s Lip Oil and Dior Lip Glow Oil.
Lipstick
Probably the most popular product of all, a lipstick is incredibly versatile, thanks to the numbers of finishes it comes it, and can suit pretty much any look you’d like. From satin to matte, and shimmer to natural, there’s a texture for everyone, and you’ll find the widest range of colours packed with powerful pigments.
Lip crayon
Similar to lipsticks, lip crayons glide effortlessly onto the lips, and can create a natural-looking finish, making them a good option for avoiding something that looks overdone, while still adding color. They feel comfortable on your lips and formulated with moisturizing ingredients. These are my personal favorites! Super easy to apply, hydrating, and long lasting.
Lip stain or tint
Except for a completely clear product or a balm, lip stains and tints are the most natural type of lip products, and they are sure to last you for the entire day without feeling like you’ve got anything on your lips. If you’re going for comfortable, modest makeup, this one’s definitely for you! I also love applying this before a satin or matte lip product to give my lips some moisture.
Liquid lipstick
Liquid lipsticks are known for having the best staying power. Almost always, the product will dry down to a completely transfer-free, matte formula, and it’ll stay on your lips for hours! They are great for something more vibrant and pigmented, as well as a classic matte nude moment. I recommend applying a fine layer opposed to a thick layer first as it’s usually highly pigmented. Liquid lipsticks tend to have a dry finish as well so make sure that your lips are properly hydrated otherwise, it will feel very dry.
Lip liner
Lastly, lip liners, while they’re generally used underneath another type of lip product, are definitely something to consider, as they’re often left out of many beauty routines. Using one isn’t always necessary. But they’re good underneath lipsticks & even some glosses to prevent bleeding of the color and create precise, crisp outlines.
I hope this guide was helpful! Now that you know the various types of lip products, I recommend trying the textures that appealed to you most. Remember, everyone’s different, so it’s best to find what you think works best for you! And don’t forget to choose the perfect color to tie together the entire look!
