On your big day, preparation is key, and it’ll pay off incredibly to have a small stash of essentials to hand whenever you need them. Of course, you may want a large makeup kit for the main look when you’re getting ready, and perhaps you’ll even hire an artist to do it for you, but there’s always room for mishaps here and there within the excitement of the day. So, to keep your face looking flawless all day, here are some products to include in a small touch-up kit you can take around with you.
- Blotting papers
Arguably one of the most important things a bride can carry with her, blotting papers are a godsend for many situations, and they’re the perfect item for your touch-up kit. Whether you’ve gotten a little sweaty during the ceremony, or your skin has become a little oily, you can just take out one of these papers and gently press it away, giving your base a flawless, matte finish.
- Lipstick
If you’re wearing any sort of lip gloss, lipstick, lip stain or anything, be aware that it’s very unlikely to remain on your lips all day and keeping it to hand for a quick refill is very handy. Every time you take a sip from your glass, or share a kiss with your significant other, your lips will likely lose their colour, but you can top it up whenever it’s needed.
- Translucent powder
In case you aren’t too familiar with the product, a translucent powder is often caked onto the face to ‘bake’ the liquid products, such as concealer and foundation, in a makeup look. However, it also has a similar effect as a blotting paper and can be gently patted onto your face to clear up any oiliness or sweat. It’s a great alternative if you’re worried about smudging your makeup with a blotting sheet.
- Q-tips & Eyeliner
If you’re a weeper, pack q-tips and a waterproof eyeliner. Clean up any eye makeup smudges with the Q-tip then reapply the waterproof liner to the spots that need it.
- Concealer & Small Sponge
Concealer is a universally appreciated product for many, and it can be the difference between a flawless base and any other during the day of your wedding. As the day progresses, you may find that some of your product starts to slip off in areas, perhaps when it rubs onto clothes and elsewhere, but a concealer can fix this. If space is limited, you can always find a mini makeup sponge to blend it with.
- A Small Perfume
Finally, perfume is notorious for smelling beautiful when it’s applied, but gradually wearing off over the course of the day, and this can be very frustrating. If you want to avoid your gorgeous, floral or fruity scent from wearing off, just pop a small bottle into your kit. You may even be able to find a sample bottle beforehand for free at a beauty counter, which is definitely worth keeping an eye out for.
Remember, this is a general guide, and you may realize that you don’t need a certain item if it’s not right for you. However, the best makeup you can wear on your big day is a smile, so relax and enjoy!
