Modern and Minimalistic
Looking for a timeless and effortless updo, try this softly waved romantic updo. Loosely waved hair were loosely pinned back into a relaxed chignon with a couple pieces falling in front creating an effortless look.
A Romantic and Soft Updo
Can you believe her hair was bob length?! Short hair ladies, can also have an updo in various ways. For this bride, I did large barrel curls and loosely pinned her hair back into a bun. I integrated the top layer of her hair that I curled into the bun and left some pieces out to achieve the soft and romantic style.
Simple and Chic
I loved creating this sleek look for my bride! She was aiming for a modern and understated look. For this look, I blowdried her hair to help get it as sleek and polished as possible yet maintaining a naturalness to it. I then tied and wrapped her hair into a knot and pinned. Perfect for the modern and understated bride.
Stepping Out of the Box
Who says a ponytail can’t be worn on your big day? I had a lot of fun creating this look for one our anuual Be.NYLA bridal shoots! It went perfectly with the halter wedding dress designed by Neda Niquie as well as her earrings. Modern, feminine, and stylish.
Twist Things Up
Another favorite updo from our Be.NYLA shoots that I love recreating on brides. For this look, I applied texturizing spray, softly brushed out and waved hair. After waving the hair, softly ran my fingers thru. I picked up sections and twisted and pinned. Repeat until all the hair is pinned up. I lightly pulled sections outward to create that effortless look.
Effortlessly Chic
Tousled, textured, and pinned. I love creating shapes and seeing where the hair takes me! In this case, the bride sent me a couple hair inspiration updos that had an effortless look to them. I started with creating as much texture as I could, leaving the hair still touchable. I pinned the top for added volume and started to weave the hair, starting from the side into the updo. Finished the updo by lightly feathering some pieces to create an airiness to the updo.
Add an Embellishment
A floral embellishment for this soft romantic updo was perfect for this bride’s rustic wedding.
A Done yet Undone Braid
One of my brides, Lisa requested a braided look. This was such a fun hairstyle to do! Braids can be done in endless ways. For Lisa’s look, I created as much volume as I could with a curling iron. From there, I softly brushed the curls out with my fingers until I got my desired texture and braided from the crown down. After tying the hair, I went back to the braid and loosened it up. The key is to create the desired texture before starting any look. In this way, your hairstyle lasts thru the night.
Try a Head Piece

A Tousled and Textured Ponytail
Just like updos, ponytails can be created in various ways! Here is one look from our bridal shoots. Tousled and textured. Perfect for the modern boho bride.

Make a Statement
Love playing with different threads, accessories, and creating different textures. For this look, I intertwined a gold chain into the hairstyle.
Simplicity is Key
Sometimes, it’s best to keep it simple. Michelle had a beautiful, modern gown with a low back designed by Rime Arodaky. Wearing her hair down with large barrel curls were a perfect compliment to this wedding dress.
Side Swept
A classic and timeless look on our past bride, Alexis. We did soft finger waves with a deep right part, tucking one side and securing with a beautiful hair comb. This hairstyle is timeless and will never go out of style.
An Organic Crown
An alternative to a wedding veil. Loved the delicate crown of florals and greenery that my bride selected for her big day. It was a perfect touch to her soft and touchable waves.
