Your wedding beauty timeline is just as important as your actual wedding timeline. Like other wedding details, preparing your skin and beauty routine requires a lot of planning and care a few months in advance.
Here are some helpful tips:
- Drink plenty water- Are you drinking 6-8 glasses of water a day? If not, I highly recommend trying it so that you could see the impact it has on your skin. Water maintains moisture in the body and helps flush out the toxins.
- Haircut/Haircolor- Thinking of doing a haircolor change? Going lighter? Adding a few lighter pieces or cutting long bangs? I recommend trying this 2 months before your wedding day in the case that you need to do any tweaking or simply just getting adjusted to it. If you’re doing a color gloss, a root touch or a trim, 2 weeks before the wedding day is ideal.
- EyeLash Extensions- eyelash extensions are a wedding must have for a lot of brides. I frequently get asked what I think of them. When should I get them? What’s the difference from getting them vs the individual lashes the day of wedding? I love eyelash extensions if they are done well. Just like your hair and makeup trial- I recommend having a couple inspiration images of lashes that you like so that it helps the lash technician have a good idea of how natural, or dramatic you want to go. If this is your first time getting lashes, I recommend doing it 3 months before your wedding day so that you get comfortable wearing them and determine if you want to continue it for your wedding day. Eyelash extensions generally last 3-6 weeks and usually start at $150. Individual false lashes are applied on the day of wedding and only last for the day thru the night. It’s easily removable and mascara can be applied on them whereas eyelash extensions cannot.
- Spray Tan- If you’re going for a sun kissed look, give yourself plenty of time to try different salons or technicians. I recommend trying your first spray tan 2 months before the big day so you could figure out what shade you like. Once you find a shade and salon/technician you like, book 2-3 days before your wedding.
- Facial- If this is your first time getting a facial, I recommend scheduling an appointment 3 months before your wedding day. Everyone’s skin is different. Note how your skin reacts and from there gauge how long it took for your skin to look its best and schedule your next facial accordingly.
- Sheet masks- I love facial sheet masks! I use them on the daily. They help my skin feel hydrated and plump. I highly recommend implementing a sheet mask into your daily skin routine 3x a week. On the big day, a sheet mask with concentrated serum is golden to replenishing your skin. Great for a last minute surge of moisture! I love the luminous dewy skin mask by Tatcha (https://www.tatcha.com/product/DS-MASK.html)
- Sleep- When we sleep, our whole body rests including our skin. When you’re getting enough sleep (7-8 hours), you’re actually promoting healthy brain function and emotional wellness as well as helping with lowering stress. Try to schedule time to get rest and make it a priority well before the wedding week rolls around.
